Day 1: Central and The Peak

Start in Central, riding the long outdoor escalators uphill through SoHo's cafés and galleries. Day 2: Kowloon and Mong Kok

Cross the harbor on the Star Ferry, a cheap and scenic ride. Stroll the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront and its Avenue of Stars. After lunch, head north into Mong Kok's dense markets: the Ladies' Market, the flower market, and the goldfish stalls. Snack on egg waffles and curry fish balls from a street cart. As night falls, watch the Symphony of Lights show across the water. The MTR makes hopping between districts fast and simple.

Day 3: Lantau and the Islands

Ride the MTR and then the cable car to Ngong Ping on Lantau Island, home to the giant Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, where you can try a vegetarian lunch. In the afternoon, take a bus or ferry to the fishing village of Tai O, famous for its stilt houses and dried-seafood stalls. If time allows, relax on a quiet beach before returning. Grab a milk tea and pineapple bun for the trip back.
